Why Choose a Group Winery Tour by bikes for a  group outing?

Perfect for Corporate Team Building

If you’re organising a team building wine tour in Hawke’s Bay, cycling is a great way to encourage connection, laughter, and shared experiences. Groups can cycle together between wineries, enjoy tastings, and bond over a long lunch in the vineyards. It’s both social and active—ideal for company outings and staff functions.

We can combine your group bike hire with our popular Scavenger Hunt games for an added layer of excitement and team building.

Celebrate With Friends or Clubs

Planning a birthday celebration, hens’ do, or group outing with friends? A wine tasting bike tour is a fun, social way to celebrate in style. With plenty of cellar doors close together, your group can enjoy multiple wineries without long rides in between.

Your Day, Your Way: How to Plan Your Group Winery Tour

Planning your group’s day out with On Yer Bike Winery Tours couldn’t be easier! Here’s how to make sure your day is one for the books:

  1. Pick your ideal day: use our online booking system to check availability for your preferred date. We recommend booking well in advance. Choose a start time: 10am, 11am or 12 noon. If you would like to start later, just let us know but it may limit the number of winery visits you may be able to do.
  2. Pick your bikes: We have a range of regular bikes in small medium and large to choose from. Tandems are fun!
  3. Plan a theme: We encourage groups to get creative! Whether you’re all in coordinated outfits, wearing party accessories, or going full glam for the occasion, feel free to make the day as Instagram-worthy as possible.
  4. Pick your wineries: On this page we have an itinerary builder wher you can try different stop off points to fit your timing. Once you have it selected, book the winerie directly – you will have the times off the itinerary.

Location: Near Napier & Hastings

We understand that transport and coordination are the biggest challenges when organizing a group winery tour originating in Napier or Hastings.

Our base is just 15 minutes from Hastings and 25 minutes from Napier, in the heart of the vineyards. This makes it easy to include in a company conference, outing or a group get-together in Hawke’s Bay.

Organise a taxi through Hastings Taxis (0800 875 055), Baywide Taxis (0800 88 55 33), Uber or Combined Taxis from Napier can provide pick up and drop off transport from your accommodation in Hastings, Havelock North or Napier.

Bay Tours or Go-bus may be able to provide you with a bus for the day, so everyone istransported. Call the taxi or bus company to confirm and book directly.

Build your perfect itinerary

The group days are the planned days, and we can help you with a winery itinerary planner. Choose the wineries you wish to stop at and the one you would like to have lunch. Displayed will be the times to book at each winery, time travelled between each stop and expected time of return.

Please note: It is essential that you book your group in ahead. It is unfair for a group of 12 or more people to turn up at a winery unannounced (without a prior booking), you may be turned away.

Wineries in grey have later start times. They turn blue and become selectable as your itinerary progresses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is a group booking different from a regular booking?
Groups are considered 12 or more people. There are some wineries that do not accept groups over 12 people. For smaller parties, please check our regular winery tours.

Can you cater for corporate winery tours?
Yes! We regularly host corporate groups, business functions, and staff team building events. We can suggest routes, winery lunch stops, and timings to suit your company’s needs.

Do you offer e-bikes for large groups?
We have a limited number of e-bikes, so cannot offer one for everyone. But we have a large fleet of standard bikes of various sizes, and even three tandems available so everyone in your group can find a comfortable ride.

Can there be a lunch stop on the tour?
Yes, a few of the wineries offer lunch options for groups. We can recommend venues such as Ash Ridge or Abbey Estate for a longer lunch stop.

How many wineries will we visit?
Most groups can visit between 3–4 wineries depending on your chosen start time. Allow at least an hour stop at each winery – the larger the group, the longer the time. This also goes for travelling between wineries as some people may not be fast.

How long does a group wine tour take?
Most groups spend 4–6 hours cycling and tasting, depending on your chosen start time. All tours must finish by 5pm when bikes are returned.
