Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a large group bike hire?

We strongly recommend booking at least 3–5 weeks ahead for groups, and further in advance during the summer season — we get busy, and so do the wineries. Give yourself enough lead time to contact each cellar door and confirm your visits before the day.

Q: Is there a minimum or maximum group size?

We can accommodate groups of up to 20 riders. Our fleet includes 30 regular bikes in a range of sizes, 13 e-bikes, and 3 tandems — so we can fit most group configurations. The 20-rider limit is set more by winery capacity than our bike numbers, so contact us early for large bookings.

Can people in the same group hire different types of bikes?

Absolutely — your group doesn't all need to ride the same bike. You can mix and match regular bikes, electric bikes, and tandems to suit different fitness levels and preferences within the group. This makes it ideal for corporate teams or family gatherings where not everyone has the same cycling ability.

Is a group winery bike ride suitable as a corporate team building event?

It is a popular corporate activity in Hawke's Bay. It gets teams out of the office, encourages a relaxed, social atmosphere, and the self-guided format means the group naturally stays together. It works well for anything from end-of-year celebrations to client entertainment days. The wineries can easily accommodate non drinkers as well as occassional tipplers. We can help you plan a route and itinerary that suits your schedule and group dynamic.

Do wineries need to be booked in advance for large groups?

Yes, and it's important. Wineries need notice for groups of 6 or more - arriving unannounced risks you being turned away. With our tour planner, plan your route, wineries you wish to visit, and it shows you the recommended booking times at each cellar door. Contact them directly, book your visit and let them know your group size.
