Murder Mystery Adventures
in Hawke's Bay wine country
On Yer Bike’s winery murder mysteries are self-guided whodunits played by bike between three Hawke’s Bay wineries. You’re the detective: at each stop you interview suspects and collect clues, then name the killer at the last winery. Each mystery takes about 4–5 hours and runs in your phone’s browser, with no app needed. Per person, it’s $75 with a regular bike, $105 with an e-bike, or $25 if you bring your own bike. Every mystery starts from our shop at Roys Hill, Hastings.
Murder Mysteries you can solve
You're in Hawke's Bay wine country. The sun is out, the vines are heavy, and somewhere along the route, someone is getting away with murder.
Our Murder Mystery Adventures put your group in the middle of a whodunit. Ride between cellar doors, crack puzzles, interview suspects, find clues. By the final winery, you'll have everything you need to name the killer, if you've been paying attention.
Pick your story, grab your bikes, and start riding. The case won't solve itself.

How it works
Choose your mystery. Pick a story from the list below. Each one is a self-contained whodunit with different characters, suspects, and plot.
No app needed. The game runs directly in your browser. Each team plays on one or two devices. One device starts the session; a second can join via a shared link. Got a bigger group? Split into teams of two to six players, each on their own session, and race each other to the finish. The leaderboard keeps score.
Ride and investigate. Each winery stop unlocks a new chapter. Read the latest twist, interview a suspect, solve a puzzle, earn a clue. Then ride on.
Name the killer. At the final stop, your clues come together in a logic puzzle. Solve it and you'll know exactly who did it, with what, and where.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many people can play a murder mystery?
From two people up. Each team is two to six players and plays on one or two phones. Got a bigger group? Split into teams, each with its own game, and race each other to the finish. The leaderboard keeps score.
How long does the murder mystery game take?
Allow approximately 4–5 hours for the full ride and game. This includes time at each cellar door.
For the murder mystery — do we need to know anything about wine?
Not at all. The mysteries are set in wine country but the game is about people, puzzles, and plot. You may learn something about wine along the way.
Do we need to be experienced cyclists?
No. The trails are flat and easy, and each hunt is about 8–12.5 km in total. If you can ride a bike, you can play. Prefer to save your energy for the puzzles? Take an e-bike.
What if someone in our group doesn't drink?
No problem. Not a wine drinker? There’s still a story to solve. The hunt works just as well with a coffee in hand, and most cellar doors on the route offer non-alcoholic options.
Can children play?
The mysteries are written for adults and older teenagers. We'd suggest 16+ for the best experience — the logic puzzles in particular require a bit of lateral thinking.
Are the murder mystery games difficult?
No. You don’t need any prior knowledge or special skills. You’re the treasure seeker: the tasks mix multiple choice questions, QR code hunts, general knowledge and scrambled-word puzzles, and it all leads to a final cipher at the last stop. They’re designed to be fun, not frustrating.
