  • A High-Quality Tandem Bike: Our bikes are well-maintained, ensuring you and your partner enjoy a smooth and safe ride.
  • Helmets & Safety Gear: Safety is a top priority. Every hire includes helmets and a briefing on how to safely ride your tandem bike. We can swap to single bikes if you cannot manage – depending on stock availability.
  • Route Map & Briefing: We provide you with a detailed map of the area and suggestions for the best stops along your route. 
  • Roadside Assistance: In the unlikely event of a flat tire or mechanical issue, we offer on-call roadside assistance to get you back on the road quickly.

Gimblett Gravels Wine District

Pricing

We offer flexible pricing based on your preferred day of hire:

  • Saturday: NZD $120 per tandem bike
  • Friday & Sunday: NZD $110 per tandem bike
  • Wednesday & Thursday: NZD $100 per tandem bike

All prices include GST, but a 5% booking fee is added for online bookings. From December 27th to January 6th, prices will be fixed at the Saturday rate.

On Yer Bike at Ash Ridge

Tandem bike rental Start and Return: Roy’s Hill

This ride starts and finishes at our shop next to Ash Ridge Winery at Roy’s Hill.

  • We do not transport riders or bikes to start in other locations and will not collect bikes or riders at the end.
  • All renters must be present at pick up to sign a liability release form.
  • Please read our rental and cancellation policies prior to reserving bikes.

    Cancellation

    Bookings cancelled more than 7 days from hire date can receive a refund less transaction fees. Bookings cancelled within 7 days will receive a voucher to book again at another time. Bookings cancelled within 24 hours prior to the hire date are non-refundable.

      ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

      Hours of Rental

      Rental time is from the hour selected during booking for the duration selected or until 5pm, whichever is earlier. – All bicycles must be returned by 5pm. Failure to do so will result in a late fee of $5 per half hour, or part thereof, until bikes returned.

      Whats Included:

      • A nice comfortable tandem bike.
      • Hemets provided
      • A route map and briefing.
      • Roadside assistance in case of flat tyres.

      Hire does NOT include:

      • Tasting fees at wineries, or any other beverages or food.
      • Collection from or return to accommodation

      Visiting wineries or cafes on route.

      Wineries are limiting group sizes for their wine tasting and do require advance bookings for groups larger than four people. Please note: we do not make any bookings on your behalf at places you may visit.

      Manufacturers Limits

      Tandem bikes are designed to carry two adults, with a combined maximum weight of 160kg (80kg per rider).

      With our tandem bike hire, you can explore Hastings and Napier Wineries at your leisure. Start your adventure at our Roy’s Hill location near Ash Ridge Winery, and enjoy a day of cycling through the local scenic wine regions. Here’s how to make the most of your tandem biking experience:
      1. Plan Your Route: With 4-5 winery stops recommended, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy tastings, take photos, and soak in the vineyard views.
      2. Have Lunch Along the Way: Many of the wineries along the route offer delicious lunch options, from platters of local produce to pizzas. Consider stopping at:
      • Oak Estate: Known for its artisan platters, a la carte menu and vineyard views.
      • Abbey Cellars: It’s Brewpub vibe offers a range of bar options
      • Trinity Hill: Enjoy fresh, locally sourced ingredients with your wine tasting.
      • Ash Ridge Winery: Famous for its pizzas and vintner’s platters.
