Ash Ridge is the closest winery on the route — sharing the same stretch of State Highway 50 as our Roys Hill base, so it’s often the first (or last) stop of the day. It’s family-run, fully organic-certified, and known locally for its $18 tastings and relaxed, welcoming cellar door.

About as close as it gets — Ash Ridge sits right alongside our Roys Hill base on State Highway 50. No long ride required to make it your first stop.

What wines does Ash Ridge make?

Premium Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet blends alongside Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Several bottles carry playful family names — including one for Winston, the vineyard dog.

Is Ash Ridge family-run?

Yes — run by winemaker Leith Ashworth and his wife Tracy, with a hands-on, family-oriented approach to both the wine and the welcome. The vineyard achieved full organic certification by the 2022 harvest, and uses livestock for vineyard management rather than chemical alternatives.

How much does a tasting cost at Ash Ridge?

$18 for a tasting of six pre-selected wines — on the more affordable end of the wineries on our route. The cellar door also does pizzas, platters, and hot and cold drinks, and welcomes families and groups.

What are Ash Ridge’s cellar door hours?

Over winter: Thursday–Friday 12pm–4pm, Saturday and Sunday 10:30am–5pm.
